About our Team
Marc and Kathryn Roberts
Marc and Kathryn Roberts established Roberts Woods Farm in 1997, after discovering the wonders of the Icelandic Horse. Both Marc and Kathryn are committed to the farms’s mission of providing riding experiences especially for special needs children and adults. Marc and Kathryn can usually be found driving the tractor or cleaning the stalls!
Esther Heffernan
is a retired high school English teacher who makes her home in Monterey. She has been riding Icelandic horses at Roberts Woods Farm for ten years and directs the Therapeutic Riding Program. She and Beth operate Beartown Excursions which takes visitors on the back roads and area trails. Her enthusiasm for the horses is contagious!
Beth Timledge
Beth is a Certified Instructor with North American Riding for the Handicapped Association; She is an Equine Specialist with Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association and is a Certified Instructor with Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. She has spent the last several years dedicated to working with both physically and emotionally challenged children and adults. Beth has an expansive and diverse equestrian background including over 25 years experience in breeding, training and competing horses in Balance Seat, Dressage and Hunt Seat.
Catherine Shoemaker
The newest member of our team, Catherine Shoemaker is a professional in horse care and management specialist. She is proving to be invaluable in preparing the therapeutic horses for their work.
